Langford Ale House and Bistro will be able to continue its weekly poker competitions.

A local tavern will be able to continue its weekly poker tournament after the City of Gosnells Council approved its renewal, subject to different terms.

The Gaming and Wagering Commission of Western Australia previously issued a gaming permit to Langford Ale House and Bistro in 2013 for a five year period, allowing the tavern to hold a weekly poker event on Saturdays between 11am and 10pm.

The permit expired last month, which meant the department needed to inspect the premises and check in with the city to see if the proposed gaming activities did not contravene local town planning provisions.

According to the application, which went before council earlier this month, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries received no complaints and neither did the City of Gosnells staff.

At council on July 10, councillors voted unanimously in support of the officer’s recommendation to approve the application for gaming activities on Saturdays between 12pm and 6pm.
