Armadale Gymnastics Club is calling for new members to join as it gears up for term one classes in February.

The club will hold a registration fun day at Armadale Aquatic Centre on January 31.

The club is in a starkly different position now than it was in January last year after its former managing body the PCYC federation announced it was pulling out of Armadale.

Since then club members have banded together to form their own committee and in November last year started teaching students again.

President Jodie Hamilton said 2016 looked like it was going to be a great year.

“The outlook is looking very sunny,” she said.

“We’ve gone from around 30 kids to about 70 or 75 kids.

“This time last year we were just forming our committee and we knew we had a long road ahead of us.

“Now we’ve actually started our club, we have a membership base and we’re affiliated with Gym WA and we’re going onwards and upwards.”

Ms Hamilton said the club recently hired new coach Peta Costa and was set to introduce boys classes and kindy classes soon.

Anyone interested in joining the club can go to the registration day from 11am to 4pm, call Ms Hamilton on 0422 239 130 or visit the club’s facebook page and leave a message.

The club is also calling for donations from the community to pay for equipment.
