Cat restrictions voted in

Gosnells Council has voted to limit the number of new cats residents can own to two.

They can keep their current cats provided they are registered, microchipped and sterilised.

If they want to keep more than two new cats they can apply to the council and if that fails they can appeal to the State Administrative Tribunal.

If they live near State and Regional Parks, Bush Forever sites and Conservation Category Wetlands they will have to keep their cats confined to their property.

These areas are the Brixton Street Wetlands, Mary Carroll Park, and the Southern and Canning River foreshores.

Residents fostering cats will be allowed to keep six cats on their properties.
