Sausage rolls, sandwiches, scones and cakes will be aplenty next week as a church group hopes to raise money and awareness for charity.

Members from the Armadale- Kelmscott Uniting Church will be hosting an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event on May 15 to raise money for the Cancer Council.

Treasurer Sue Whitworth said the event was important as the congregation has sadly lost members to cancer while others had survived the disease.

“This is the first time our church has hosted a Biggest Morning Tea but some members have hosted this event elsewhere,” she said.

“There will be unlimited tea and plunger coffee along with items for sale such as jams, cakes and plants.

“It will be a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where everyone can chat and feel welcome.”

Mrs Whitworth said the group hoped to raise about $300 which would help fund the Cancer Council’s life-saving research, prevention, support program and information.

The morning tea will be held at the church on the corner of Avonlee Road and Anton Street, Armadale, from 10am.
