A keen runner and a fitness enthusiast Olivia Hampton was part of a group of Byford residents who completed their first amazing race challenge on October 29.

The event was part of Totally Toned Fitness’s program to live a healthy and active lifestyle, a program Ms Hampton began earlier in the year.

The amazing race challenge followed the same format as the popular television show of the same name.

It involved running around the Byford area, performing activities and earning clues for the next location, although Miss Hampton did not win the challenge she said she was happy to take part.

“I decided to do the Byford race as a way to mix up my training and have a bit of fun,” she said.

“I will be running a 12 week challenge in the new year.”

Miss Hampton said she prepared for the amazing race challenge by setting goals and working up her current fitness levels.

“I decided to run the 12 week challenge as I saw a hole in the fitness market in Byford,” she said.

“There are plenty of boot camps and personal trainers but with them you do your session then go home, with no follow up or accountability.

“I also see fitness as more than a number on the scales; the mental changes you see as well as things like improved mood, increase in energy and even better sleep is better than focusing on the number and how the clothes fit.”

The 12-week challenge begins January 16, 2017.
