The Bulldogs men reserve team did their best to defend against a tough Fremantle CBC side.

With the finals approaching, the Kelmscott Bulldogs are working hard on their last legs with final opportunities to make it into the finals.

Men’s Brett Jones Colts

The Kelmscott Brett Jones Colts kicked off the Saturday men’s games with a winner against Fremantle CBC on home ground at John Dunn Memorial Oval.

Kelmscott started the game strong, leading the way with 27 in the first quarter to Fremantle’s seven.

In the second quarter, the Bulldogs maintained their lead, ending the first half with 35, while Fremantle finished with 15.

The Bulldogs continued their strength, widening their lead to finish the game on 48, while Fremantle CBC finished on 22.

The Bulldogs colts kicked seven goals and six points, while Fremantle kicked three goals and four points.

Tyson Hoare and Lohgan Bovell both kicked two goals, while Zachary Warner and Israel Bucktin kicked one each.

The Colts play their final ordinary fixtured game of the season before finals this weekend, as Kelmscott take on University at the University of Western Australia Sports Park.

The Bulldogs Colts are tied first on the ladder with Trinity Aquinas, both on 56 points.

Fremantle CBC and Curtin Uni Wesley follow closely behind tied on second with 52 points.

The Kelmscott Bulldogs put up a fight in Saturday’s wet weather against Fremantle CBC.

Men’s C4 Reserves

The Kelmscott men’s reserves had an unfortunate and large loss against top-of-the-ladder Fremantle CBC at John Dunn Memorial Oval on Saturday.

Kelmscott lost zero to 100, with Fremantle kicking 15 goals and 10 points.

The men’s reserves only have one more game to play before the qualifying finals begin, as they take on Manning at James Miller Oval this Saturday.

The reserves are bottom of the ladder with four points, but have Jacob Bromfield in their corner, the second highest goal scorer of this year’s C4 reserves season.

Men’s C4

With a home game played at John Dunn Memorial Oval on Saturday, the Kelmscott Bulldogs defeated Fremantle CBC in a 76 to 43 final score.

The game was toe-to-toe first quarter with both teams finishing on 19. However, the Bulldogs got the lead in the second quarter to finish on 33, ahead of Fremantle’s 28.

In the third quarter, the gap between the two teams was closed further with Fremantle behind Kelmscott by only three points.

However, in the final quarter Fremantle remained on 43 while the Bulldogs kicked four more goals and six points to finish well in the lead.

The Bulldogs kicked 11 goals and 10 points in total, while Fremantle CBC kicked six goals and seven points.

Bulldogs’ captain Kyle Collard kicked three goals, with Matthew Wilkes kicking two and Owen Dann, Noah Soper, Beaudine Winmar, Jacob Bromfield, Brett Eades, and deputy vice-captain Angus Yarran all kicking one goal each.

The men have their final fixtured game this Saturday at James Miller Oval where they take on Manning.

With one game before the finals, Kelmscott men are third on the ladder with 52 points.

Women’s C1

The women’s Bulldogs team secured a spot in the qualifying round of finals, after winning against Ocean Ridge last weekend.

Playing at Heathridge Park, Kelmscott won 23 to 14, after kicking three goals and five points compared to Ocean Ridge’s two goals and two points.

With a rocky start for Kelmscott after being down zero to 13 in the first quarter, the women worked hard to close the gap in the second quarter, finishing the first half on eight while Ocean Ridge remained on 13.

In the third quarter Ocean Ridge remained stationary, while Kelmscott kicked two more points.

In the final quarter, the Bulldogs brought the thunder to kick two goals and one more point, with Ocean Ridge only kicking one more point.

Anna-Shae Michael, Mahalia Rukuata and Hayley McHenry were the goal kickers for the women’s game.

Second place on the ladder and with hosting rights, the Bulldogs once again take on Ocean Ridge on Saturday for the first qualifying final.

The Bulldogs must win as Ocean Ridge are only four points behind them, coming for Kelmscott’s second place crown ahead of the finals.

Cockburn are first place, only four points ahead of the Bulldogs.

All Abilities

In round one of the All Abilities league finals, the Kelmscott Bulldogs took on High Wycombe for the third and sixth place elimination final.

With Bulldogs on third place and the game held at John Dunn Memorial Oval Saturday morning, Kelmscott succeeded over High Wycombe.

The first quarter started close, with both teams landing one goal. However, by the end of the first half, the Bulldogs had tripled High Wycombe’s score with 21 to seven.

Perry Borger celebrated playing 200 games for the Kelmscott Bulldogs with his family’s support.

The Bulldogs maintained their strong lead throughout the game to finish on 42, while High Wycombe finished on 14.

The Bulldogs kicked six goals and six points with High Wycombe only kicking two goals and two points.

Superstar Fraser Kickett kicked three goals for Kelmscott, with Lee Maas, Daniel Harvey and Larry Tadday all kicking one goals.

The first semi-final round will be played this Saturday between Kelmscott and Curtin Uni Wesley, who are third and fifth place respectively.
