Have your say on the new Byford Station

The new Byford Station is set to receive major upgrades based on community feedback.

Community members are being called to provide feedback to proposed public transport options at the new Byford Station.

The station is set to open with Metronet “several months after” the inner Armadale line opens on June 8.

Potential new and amended bus routes from Byford Station can be assessed through the community consultation.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the new station will be a “game changer” for the Byford community.

“Not only will the changes support connectivity to the new station, but they will also see new services in growing suburbs for the first time,” she said.

“It is important the community take their time to review and provide their feedback on these changes to ensure the bus network best aligns with community needs.”

Proposed changes to transport in the area includes improvements in transport frequency and operating hours, with up to 10 additional buses servicing the additional 445,000 kilometres in the area.

Seven new bus routes would also be operating at Byford Station, with expanded service hours in Byford, Whitby and Mundijong.

A new bus route would also service residential areas in Hilbert.

Oakford MLA Yaz Mubarakai said it’s important for the community to get involved in the feedback process.

“We’ve seen right across the south-east of Perth the transformative impact of METRONET, and now communities in and around Byford will see the same positive benefits,” she said.

“The consultation is an important opportunity for people to review the proposed enhancements to the bus network, and I encourage people to take the time to provide feedback.”

Feedback can be provided at www.mysaytransport.wa.gov.au until June 16.
