An alleged handbag theft in Thornlie has led to people saying they need to “immediately lock their car doors” when driving.
On Thursday July 17 at approximately 2:20pm, an unknown person on a white mountain bike was sitting outside a shopping centre on Spencer Road.
The female victim loaded her shopping into the backseat of her car in the shopping centre’s car park and climbed into the driver’s side when the accused on the bike approached the victim’s car, opened the rear door, and allegedly stole the woman’s handbag before fleeing on the bike.
The accused was wearing black track pants with a white stripe on the side of the legs, a black hoodie, a black motorcycle helmet, black socks with black and white striped slides, and a dark backpack with cartoon animals on the design.
Canning Vale police have urged anyone with information to the person responsible, or with any dash cam or CCTV footage from the surrounding area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
All reports can be made anonymously.
