Now is the time to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond for the Australian of the Year Awards.
The inspiring mentors, unsung community heroes and excelling achievers can all be recognised for their extraordinary contributions.
A person can only be considered for the 2026 awards if a member of the public submits a nomination on their behalf.
Community members can be nominated in on of four categories; Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year aged 65 or more, Young Australian of the Year aged between 16 and 30, and Australia’s Local Hero.
One nomination is enough for a person as the awards are judged on merit not quantity, and it doesn’t have to be a nomination for someone you know personally, as long as you can outline how they have contributed to their community.
You can also nominate someone in secret without their permission to remain anonymous and private.
Nominations close Thursday July 31 and can be made at www.australianoftheyear.org.au.
