Local residents are being encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help give nature a hand at the City of Gosnells’ National Tree Day event on Sunday, July 27.
Toi be held at Tom Bateman Reserve in Thornlie from 9am to 12pm, the community planting day promises a fun and family-friendly way top protect and enhance the local environment.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said the event is a great opportunity for people of all ages to get involved and make a real difference.
“This year we have 8,000 native seedlings to plant, which will really make an impact on the reserve, so we want as many people to attend as possible,” she said.
“This National Tree Day will help to improve habitat for local wildlife while making the reserve more beautiful and enjoyable for everyone.”
Volunteers are advised to dress for the weather, wear sturdy footwear and bring along gloves, trowels and a water bottle. A free sausage sizzle will be available after the planting to thank participants for their efforts.
