The success of local businesses was in focus at the sold-out gala Armadale Business Excellence Awards at Araluen Golf Course last Friday.
Hours of hard work and dedication paid off for the winners, while Armadale Business Chamber of Commerce President Deena Syed paid tribute to the local businesses that keep the economy ticking over.
“Behind the shopfront, café, tradesperson, professional practice, manufacturer or pharmacy are often people discussing cash flow around the dinner table, husbands and wives working late into the night, children growing up around family businesses, and owners taking significant personal and financial risks to build something,” Deena said.

“A business supporting a local sporting club can impact hundreds of children. A business taking on an apprentice can change the direction of a young person’s life. And one successful local business can create opportunities that extend throughout an entire community.”
Last Friday’s judging focused strongly on the three principles of impact, sustainability and contribution.
The Chamber considered the impact nominees were having on their community, whether they were building sustainable organisations capable of creating future employment and opportunities, and whether they were adding genuine value to the Armadale region.
Syed said strong local economies are created through an ecosystem of businesses supporting one another – buying locally, employing locally, mentoring young people, training apprentices, supporting community organisations, innovating, taking risks and continuing to invest in the region.
The Chamber acknowledged that an event of this scale is only possible through collaboration with sponsors, partners, nominees and the wider business community embraced the opportunity to make the inaugural event a success, including the City of Armadale for supporting the Awards, Araluen Golf Resort as a Gold Sponsor of the Chamber and host of the event, and to every sponsor and partner who invested in celebrating Armadale business.
The Chamber congratulated every winner, finalist and nominee.
