For a night out full of dancing, suits, long dresses and karaoke for an inaugural celebration of inclusion, look no further than the Abilities Ball.

The Kelmscott Bulldogs Football Club (KBFC) are hosting the ball on Saturday July 5 at the John Dunn Memorial Park Pavillion, following the 3:30pm All Abilities League game against Swan Districts.

The $10 door entry fee includes entertainment from a DJ with karaoke, a photographer, dance instructors with group participation, best dressed prizes and raffles, access to a licensed bar, and spectator views of the KBFC Community Inclusion Award presentation.

KBFC All Abilties coach Robbie Turner said the money raised from the event will help ease cost of living struggles for the players and their families.

“It takes a great amount of volunteer effort and fundraising to facilitate the participation of the award winning All Abilities Football and Community Inclusion Program hosted by the Kelmscott Bulldogs Football Club,” he said.

“The joy of such great program provides aspiring athletes living with disability and their great community support the chance to play AFL and be part of their community sporting.

“The results are dramatic and life changing, building participant self-esteem and social inclusion.

“Unfortunately, this year, the football club has found hardship with cost-of-living impacts and the All Abilities Team has suffered effects from dramatic NIDIS changes. In addition, the team suffered the effects of a thoughtless theft.

“Although majority of the jumpers were recovered, it has left the teams uniforms damaged and some missing. The impact is emotional.”

Mr Turner said the ball will provide an opportunity to celebrate the community who has continuously supported the All Abilities, a team designed to help people who live with physical and mental disabilities be a part of a sporting team.
“Rising above adversity and the hardship of today’s cost of living impacts, Saturday’s Abilities Ball is excited to provide a joyful social and exciting celebration of You and Everyone in the community,” he said.
“Come Join us and Help Keep Support Local Community Sporting Club and the All Abilities Football Program.”

Local community members and businesses are also welcome to contribute to the fundraising through prize or monetary donations or can reach out to the event organisers about being a DJ for the evening.
