The Kelmscott Bulldogs Football Club showed up and gave it their all last weekend in a bout of home games, as more than half the season has been played.

With the All Abilities united in their special jumpers and the women continuing their winning streak, all Bulldog players are in good shape.

All Abilities

Peter Christoff proved he was an effective on-baller.

The All Abilities League played in high spirits at Saturday’s home ground game in the special occasion jumpers.

Playing against High Wycombe at John Dunn Memorial Oval Saturday morning, the All Abilities Bulldogs left victorious in a 39 to 10 final score.

Kelmscott proved to be too tough, kicking six goals and three points to High Wycombe’s one goal and four points.

The Bulldogs started strong in the first quarter, with one goal and one point secured while High Wycombe kicked one point.

This continued in the second quarter with Bulldogs up by two goals and two points, and High Wycombe on two points.

By the end of third quarter, the Bulldogs were ahead by three goals, with a strong finish in the final quarter, kicking another three goals.

Bulldog Jaxon Hay kicked three goals on Saturday, while Fraser Kickett, Daniel Harvey and Ben Koelen each kicked one.

Koelen also celebrated playing 50 games at Bulldogs All Abilities on the weekend, alongside teammate David Dennis, making them the first players in this league to achieve the milestone.

After having their jerseys allegedly stolen earlier this month, the All Abilities Bulldogs have played some Saturday games with borrowed uniforms from previous seasons.

However, honoured with the club history and mental health awareness jumpers last Thursday evening, the All Abilities Bulldogs proudly took to the field for Round eight.

Kelmscott All Abilities League next take on Coolbinia at Coolbinia senior oval on Saturday June 28 at 1:10pm before the next home game on July 5 against Swan Districts.

Women’s C1

The Bulldog women played Forrestdale at William Skeet Reserve on Saturday and walked away with another win.

In the final three to 19 score, the Bulldogs kicked two goals and seven points to Forrestdale’s three points.

Kelmscott was up by one goal at the end of the first quarter, kicking the second goal in the second quarter.

In the second half of the game, the Bulldogs unfortunately missed out on another goal but secured an extra three points to finish with their seventh consecutive win.

Louise Knitter and Ashley McHenry kicked one goal each for the Bulldogs.

The women sit second on the ladder, four points behind Kwinana who they play against this weekend at Medina Oval.

Kelmscott women’s have only lost to Kwinana this season in their round two clash but can hopefully bring it home on Saturday before next week’s bye.

The women are then set to play at home for round 13 on July 19 against Roleystone.

Men’s C4

The Bulldog men’s team had another win for the club last weekend against Trinity Aquinas.

Kelmscott won in a thumping of 106 to 24.

Scoring 16 goals and ten points, Aquinas had no chance against the mighty Bulldogs when they kicked only three goals and six points.

Kelmscott were up by four goals, and one point at the end of quarter one, while Trinity finished on three points after the first quarter.

The Bulldogs came back even stronger for the second quarter, kicking another three goals and four points, before finishing strong in the second half of the game where they kicked three goals in the third quarter and six goals in the final quarter.

Men’s captain Kyle Collard kicked a whopping seven goals for the team, while Jacob Bromfield was in the spotlight and kicked three.

The men next take on Mt Lawley at Hamer Park this Saturday at 3:05pm, before the July 19 home game against Curtin University.

The men’s C4 team sits second on the ladder, four points behind Kenwick.

Men’s C4 Reserve

The men’s Reserves had an unlucky loss against Trinity Aquinas last week on home soil.

The first quarter was tough for the Bulldogs, with Aquinas up four goals and one point, and Kelmscott only on two points.

Not to worry, the Bulldogs worked harder the rest of the game to secure six goals and six points.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough as Aquinas kicked 10 goals and eight points.

The final score was Bulldogs 42 and Aquinas 68.

However, in another round of personal wins, Jacob Bromfield kicked all six goals for the Bulldogs, making him the highest scoring player this season in the C4 men’s Reserves League, kicking 31 goals across 10 games.

Reserves play at 1:10pm this Saturday against Mt Lawley at Hamer Park, before returning to home turf on July 19 against Curtin University Wesley for round 14.

Men’s Brett Jones Colts

The Colts brought home another win for the Kelmscott Bulldogs Football Club last weekend, in a 43 to 36 win against Trinity Aquinas.

At the end of the first quarter, the win could go either way with both Bulldogs and Aquinas on one goal and one point each.

The tight competition followed into the second quarter, with Bulldogs and Aquinas on thre goals each, but the Bulldogs were up by one point.

The competition slipped out of the Bulldogs’ grip in the third quarter, with Aquinas on five goals and five points, and Kelmscott on four goals and five points.

However, the Bulldogs brought it home in the final quarter to kick six goals and seven points against Trinity’s five goals and six points.

Noah Soper, fresh off the North vs South of the river Friday clash kicked three goals, while Tyson Hoare, Trenton Collard and Jamie Hartley kicked one each.

Soper has also become the highest scoring goal kicker to date this Colts season, with 24 goals kicked across 10 games.

The Colts, who sit fourth on the ladder, play this Saturday at Hamer Park against Mt Lawley at 11:15am.
