A woman remains in critical condition at Royal Perth Hospital after the car she was driving crashed into an oncoming truck on Kargotich Road, Mundijong earlier this week.

The woman aged in her 20s veered onto the wrong side of the road and crashed head-on with a truck and trailer about 11.30am on February 12 about one kilometre from Mundijong Road.

Career and volunteer fire and rescue firefighters worked tirelessly to free the woman from the vehicle getting her out almost one hour after the crash occurred.

Armadale Police and the Traffic Enforcement Group officers also attended.

She was taken to Royal Perth Hospital via helicopter with multiple injuries and remains in the intensive care unit.

Mundijong Police Senior Sergeant Darryl Brandis said the road itself was not an issue instead pointing the finger at the inattention of drivers using the road networks.

“There are other roads in the district that need attention before Kargotich Road,” he said.
