Good people love him, bad people fear him but sadly its time for Darryl Brandis to hit the road and start a new job in the big smoke.

The Mundijong Police Senior Sergeant, more affectionately known as Brando, will be starting his new role as officer in charge of the Police Officer Deployment Unit as of Monday, after serving the Serpentine Jarrahdale community since August 2015.

For Snr Sgt Brandis said it will be a sad goodbye but he is excited to see from afar how the police district and the wider community will continue to grow into the future.

“This is a fantastic place to live, work and visit, it really is amazing,” he said.

“Even people who live here, who receive a sanction of some type from Mundijong Police, often stop and say hello at community events such as the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale barbecue.

“That is a very real sign of the fact that 95 per cent of everyone who lives here are decent folk.”

Among his many treasured memories at the Mundijong office is the police open day in 2017, which saw the community turn out in their hoards to see the new station.

“I really loved seeing so many families and interested people on that day,” he said.

“Moving from the previous station that was built for two officers in 1959 to the new complex that is built for 40 officers in late 2016 was a massive change.

“We have been extremely blessed to have had quality applicants for every vacancy that has come through promotion or transfer.”

Snr Sgt Brandis will be handing over to a new officer in charge who will have new ideas and a passion for policing.
