At 5:50am on Thursday, April 25, the community of Jarrahdale came together to mark ANZAC day with a dawn service at the war memorial.

A gunfire breakfast provided by the Jarrahdale volunteer bushfire brigade followed the service.

As dawn gave way to morning, HMAS Stirling – SSSS and veterans marched to the memorial to pay their respects at the 9am service, led by Chaplain Neil Masters.

Petty officer Rhys Cannon read the ANZAC speech and Jarrahdale Primary School pupils Riley Gale and Haylee McIntyre contributed to the service.

Once again, Di Henniker from the Jarrahdale Historical Society gave an insight to a past resident’s experiences of war.

The Jarrahdale Community Collective provided morning tea where residents and service personnel were able to share stories

The annual event brings the community together in an opportunity to reflect and remember.

Lest We Forget.
