Emergency services responded to a police car crashing into an Armadale home on Tuesday night.

A police officer is in hospital and a patrol car in need of repairs after the officer’s car crashed into a house in Armadale this week.

The officer is being treated for a back injury after the four-wheel-drive car he was in left Forest Road near Dale Road at around 7.20pm on April 17.

The crash occurred minutes after Armadale Police Station was alerted to a burglary on Fifth Avenue, which several marked and unmarked police cars attended.

The crashed car was one of the responding vehicles.

While travelling south along Forest Road with lights and sirens on, the driving officer overtook another vehicle travelling in the same direction.

At the intersection of Dale Road the police car left the road, struck a low garden wall before travelling further and into a house.

Excessive damage was done to the front brick wall of the house and a window, and DFES, the SES, Western Power and representatives of a gas company attended to inspect the scene.

No one in the house was injured.

Police said they were investigating the cause of the crash.
