The Bulldogs hosted five winning games on Saturday as two players – Angus Yarran and Liam Hansen – celebrated club milestones in the League game.
The club’s Integrated team started the day and took on last year’s runners up Coolbinia, with ‘best on ground’ Fraser Kickett, Tim Davies and Lee Maas putting in extra efforts to climb over the opposition.
Daniel Harvey and Peter Christoff kicked two each, as Garth Rodger gave a quick handball to female forward Jameelee Plummer who kicked a great goal, sealing the win.
Kelmscott Integrated 10.8 (68) defeated Coolbinia 7.3 (45)
Women
The Women’s team played against undefeated top-of-the-ladder Ocean Ridge, who struggled to capitalise on their forward entries thanks to the efforts of the Kelmscott defenders.
The team’s key forward Summer Yarran was again the hit up, kicking two.
Kelmscott 6.2 (38) won to Ocean Ridge 3.6 (24)
Colts
The young pups of the Bulldogs had the closest match of the day, as opposition North Beach stayed hot on the tail of the Bulldogs all game.
Tall timber Noah Soper took to the challenge and scored five from the forward entries, assisted by Isaiah Dimer with his goal.
Kelmscott Colts 6.6 (42) beat North Beach 5.7 (37)
Reserves
The reserves pulled it together on the weekend and celebrated their first win, as Noranda were caught flat footed.
Newcomers David McKelvie and Dylan Lanyon made their impact as the showman Jacob Bromfield took some brilliant marks to kick five for the Bulldogs.
Kelmscott 8.3 (51) defeated Noranda 3.10 (28).
League
It has taken Angus Yarran a long time to reach his 50 League Game milestone with commitments working away. And even longer for team mate Liam Hansen, who has returned from a career in country football, to clock up 50 club games.
Yarran, an active club volunteer and committee man, proudly celebrated his milestone alongside his two daughters who are playing in the women’s team this year.
The speed of Kelmscott’s Darren Ryan and class of Brett Eades was too much for the contenders, kicking three and two respectively.
Mids Aidan Sheppard and Callum Collard drilled through centre kicking one each, ably supported by Captain William Walley, Cody Yarran and Ruckman Shaquille Ninyette.
And with three goals, it was the milestone man Angus Yarran himself who capped it off. Undefeated Kelmscott League 10.10 (70) beat Noranda 5.8 (38)
This Saturday the Bulldogs play away, with a Women’s Derby up the hill at Roleystone Cross Park 9:30am. Next week, 17 May, all teams return to home ground.
