The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale have called on the creative community to put forward their artwork for the upgraded Byford Skate Park.
The shire is looking to commission a piece from an experienced artist to wrap around the skate park’s external wall, opposite the Youth Centre on Mead Street.
In an online news post, the shire said the painting will be showcased once the upgraded facility reopens in September.
“This artwork will become a standout feature of the revitalised skate park,” the post said.
“A place where young people come to connect, move, and have fun.
“Artists are encouraged to submit proposals that not only bring visual impact to the area but also tell a story of connection, movement and joy.”
The chosen artist’s work will display a creative piece which shows the themes of belonging and playfulness in a thriving community.
The skate park is expected to close late this month and reopen with new features including a bigger skate area, increased seating and better lighting.
Artists can send their proposals to the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale public events and arts officer Jessica Farmer at info@sjshire.wa.gov.au before Friday June 27.
