A 78-year-old man has died after being struck by a car in Canning Vale yesterday evening.

Police said the grey Honda CRV station wagon was travelling south on Nicholson Road just before 6.20pm when it hit the pedestrian near the intersection with Ranford Road.

The man sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Fiona Stanley Hospital, where he later died.

The 39-year-old male driver was not injured and is assisting police with their investigation.

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are now calling for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly interested in dash-cam or mobile phone footage from the area around the time of the crash.
