She originally taught in junior primary in years 1, 2 and 3 and over the last several years as a science teacher.

They conducted many workshops for teachers at Beckenham Primary and other schools in the State, using the EMITS teaching approach.

During the last 12 years she became involved in STAWA (Science Teachers Association Western Australia) and served as a committee member for primary science.

Yvonne ran workshops at the primary science conference and mentored and helped other science specialists.

In 2016 Yvonne joined up with five other science specialist and produced a document called START used for assessing science inquiry skills from years 1 to 6.

In 2018 this team of science teachers called SCATS went to Sydney University to present their assessment tool.

During her time, she served as an acting deputy principal and also as a school union representative.

With her dancing background, she enjoyed and ran very well coordinated school assemblies.

She served on the school social committee and organised many social outings at different staff members’ homes including her own.
