Plugga will be sorely missed.

The Gosnells Hawks Football Club has celebrated a solid conclusion to its 2026 season at the recent Passmore Medal Night.

The club described the event as an opportunity to recognise the achievements, dedication and contributions of their players, coaches, volunteers and club members.

At the front of everyone’s mind was the Women’s Premiership success, though individual achievements were not forgotten either.

Several new life members were inducted, and a number of awards were granted.

Among the Women’s team, Best and Fairest was granted to Shawnie Pickett, while the same award was granted to Kye Horan, Cody Staines, Cruz Woodley and Tait Holland as respective members of the Colts, Reserves, League and Thirds teams.

“A massive congratulations to all our award winners, milestone players and newly inducted life members. Your achievements reflect the commitment, passion and pride that make our club what it is today,” a club spokesperson said.

“To our coaches, team managers, volunteers and committee members, thank you for the countless hours you have dedicated to making this season a success.

“We also extend our sincere appreciation to our team sponsors and all our valued club sponsors. Your ongoing generosity and support play a vital role in keeping our club strong, both on and off the field.

“Thank you to every player, supporter and family member who has been part of our 2026 journey. Here’s to another fantastic year of footy, friendships and memories at Gosnells Football Club.”

The club has also experienced major leadership changes, going into their next season. Club president Brayden Watkins has announced that he will step down from his position.

“When I walked through the doors as a 17-year-old, I never thought I would have the privilege of being President of the club I love for five years. But for now, it’s time to hand it over and spend some more time with the kids,” Mr Watkins said.

“It’s been a lot of hard work, but an experience I would not change and something I’m very proud of. I couldn’t have done it without the help along the way from all the committee members, coaches, players, sponsors, volunteers, friends and, of course, my family for backing me in this journey.”

Club Vice President, Steven “Plugga” Davis, will also cease in his role, following five years of service to the club.

The Hawks have described Plugga as having been an integral part of the Hawks for many years, giving countless hours of his time, much of his energy and plenty of dedication to the club. His commitment, passion and willingness to lend a hand wherever needed have made him a valued member of the Gosnells family as well.

“While he may be stepping away from the committee, he’s assured us he won’t be going too far and will continue to be involved with us in some capacity,” the club said.

The new committee for 2027 has been announced, with Thomas Betts taking on the role of president, after having previously served as club secretary. Corey Bertram will take on the role of vice president, being backed by many years of experience as a club coach.

Meanwhile, Lisa Spicer will serve as secretary, Clinton Ford as treasurer and Adam White and James Tyson as ordinary committee members.
