It was not the club’s easiest round this week, but morale shows no signs of dropping.

Following on from a solid performance last week, the Gosnells Hawks have continued the fight in their fifth round of the season.

“Another massive day for the club with all five sides in action. Women, Colts, Reserves & League hit the road, while the Thirds were back at home,” said the club, describing the week’s fixtures.

It was a tough week for the men’s teams, who did not record their best ever performance, however, the Women and Colts recorded stronger results.

“It was not the results we were chasing in the Men’s grades, but the Women and Colts both got the job done and came away with the W.”

Describing the Women’s performance in glowing terms, the club praised a: “huge effort from the girls travelling all the way to Wanneroo and coming home with the win. With an undermanned side and no rotations, the girls stayed focused, worked hard for each other and played as a team all day. A massive effort by everyone involved.”

The Colts played well also, with the club, commending: “another strong performance from the Colts. The boys got on top early and never let up, putting together a four-quarter effort to secure another great win.”

The outcomes were not quite as hoped among the Reserves, though the club has reminded everyone that there will be: “a big few weeks ahead as they look to stay in the top five. Keep working hard boys and bounce back next week to get back on the winners list,” the club said.

Similarly, the League and Thirds had a rough outing.

“Another result not going our way with League, but the work starts on the track. Plenty to improve on as we go again next week. A huge congratulations to Noah Millar on making his League debut.

“It was also a tough day for the Thirds, but the boys continue to stick at it. Keep working hard lads and that first W isn’t far away.”

With the sixth round coming up, it will be dedicated, as per club tradition, to Rodney Pollock, a 19-year-old player for the Gosnells Hawks who tragically passed away following a head collision in a game against Kenwick.

“Each year, our club proudly hosts Rodney Pollock Round in honour of his life and legacy,” the club said.

“The best player on the day is awarded the prestigious Rodney Pollock Medal, presented by the Pollock family. Traditionally, this takes place during the Colts fixture against Kenwick when both clubs are in the same grade. On behalf of the Gosnells Hawks Football Club, we continue to send our love and thoughts to the Pollock family.”
