The Gosnells Women’s Collective will open its door to the public for the first time this month, inviting residents to learn more about the local Women’s shed and the activities offered at the Beckenham site.
The free Open Day will be held on Sunday, March 8 from 9am to 12 noon at the Collective’s premises on Birchington Street, coinciding with National Women’s Shed Week and International Women’s Day.
According to committee representative, Krystelle, the event marks the first time the organisation has opened the entire space specifically to showcase its work to the wider community.
“This is the first time we are opening our doors specifically to showcase the Gosnells Women’s Collective as a whole,” she said.
“The Free Open Day is about giving community members the opportunity to explore our space, learn about the different groups that operate within the Collective, and discover areas that may be of interest to them.”
Visitors will be able to tour the facility, watch woodwork demonstrations and browse stalls during the morning event. A Devonshire morning tea will also be available for purchase.
Krystelle said holding the Open Day during National Women’s Shed Week was a deliberate decision aimed at raising awareness of Women’s Sheds and their role in local communities.

“The week is dedicated to raising the profile of Women’s Sheds across the country and highlighting the important role they play in building skills, confidence and connection,” she said.
“If someone leaves inspired to pick up a tool, learn a skill, or simply come back again, we’ve done our job.”
The Gosnells Women’s Collective is a not-for-profit organisation based in Beckenham bringing women together through shared projects, practical workshops and social activities.
The Open Day is free to attend and open to community members interested in seeing the space and learning how to get involved.
