The wet August weather didn’t stop the Kelmscott Bulldogs teams from showing up and giving their opposition some tough competition as the football season goes into the finals.
All Abilities
The Kelmscott All Abilities played their final ordinary game against Kingsway on Saturday, before they enter the first round of the finals this weekend.
At Creyk Park, the Bulldogs unfortunately lost 17 to 54, slipping across the wet field.

Kingsway were up on nine in the first quarter, while Kelmscott only kicked two points.
In a close end to the first half, Kelmscott finished on 17, while Kingsway were only just ahead on 21.
However, in the second half, Kingsway maintained their lead by kicking more goals and points to finish with eight goals and six points, while the Bulldogs had unfortunately remained at 17 after kicking two goals and five points.
Fraser Kickett and Garth Rodger both kicked one goal for the Bulldogs as they remained third on the ladder with 30 points.
They take on High Wycombe in sixth place this Saturday for the elimination final. Time and location to be confirmed.
Women’s C1
The Kelmscott women played their second last round of the fixtured ordinary season on Saturday against Coolbellup.
Playing at home at John Dunn Memorial Oval, the Bulldogs women succeeded over Coolbellup, winning 60 to 14.
Beginning strong in the first quarter, Kelmscott were up with three goals on 18 to

Coolbellup’s seven.
At the end of the first half, Coolbellup remained on seven while Kelmscott kicked another two goals and one point. In the second half, Coolbellup kicked one more goals and one point, but Kelmscott kept the competition up to kick five points and six goals.
The final score count was Kelmscott on nine goals and six points, and Coolbellup on both two goals and two points.
Mahalia Rukuata scored three goals for the Bulldogs, with Jorja Sheppard scoring two, and Louise Knitter, Tannah Lee, Ashley McHenry and Bella Hughes all kicking one each.
The women are second on the ladder, tied with Ocean Ridge on 44 points as they take on Ocan Ridge this Saturday at Heathridge Park.
It’s a must-win for the ladies as a win for this round will send them through to the finals against Kwinana for a first and second knockout.
Men’s C4
Kelmscott men unfortunately lost against top of the ladder Kenwick on Saturday at John Dunn Memorial Oval.
In a close game, Kenwick were only slightly up on 19 to Kelmscott’s 13 at the end of the first quarter, with Kelmscott working hard to close the gap to 21 to 24 at the end of the first half.
However, Kenwick led the way in the third quarter to kick three goals and two points, while the Bulldogs were out of luck and remained on 21.
In the final quarter, Kelmscott kicked one point while Kenwick unfortunately played stronger to kick another three goals and three points.
The final score was Bulldogs on 22 with three goals and four points, and Kenwick on 65, with nine goals and 11 points.
Dominic Warrell, Kalvyn Batista and Aidan Sheppard all kicked one goal for the Bulldog, leading them to third on the ladder with 48 points.
They play at home again this Saturday against Fremantle CBC.
Men’s Reserves
In a drastic and unfortunate loss on Saturday, the Kelmscott Reserves finished at eight compared to their opposition, Kenwick’s 82.
Kicking one goal and two points, the Bulldogs had a tough game against Kenwick who kicked 11 goals and 16 points.

Matthew Green was the sole goal scorer for the Bulldogs last weekend.
This week at John Dunn Memorial oval, after playing last week at home as well, Bulldogs Reserves take on Fremantle CBC, who are top of the ladder for the league.
On four points, the Kelmscott Reserves are unfortunately bottom of the ladder, with only two more rounds remaining in the ordinary fixtured season.
Men’s Brett Jones Colts
The Kelmscott Brett Jones Colts had a win against Kenwick last weekend for round 16, making the most of their home ground advantage.
With a slight lead of 10 to eight in the first quarter, the Kelmscott Bulldogs remained points ahead of Kenwick throughout the whole game.
Kicking two goals and three points in the second quarter, the Bulldogs were up 25 to Kenwick’s 15 at the end of the first half.

With Kenwick closing the gap in the third quarter, the Bulldogs kicked three points while Kenwick kicked two points and one goal to level out the score with the Bulldogs on 26 and Kenwick on 23.
However, after Kenwick only kicked one point in the final quarter, the Bulldogs finished the game well ahead on 41, while Kenwick was on 24.
The Bulldogs kicked five goals and 11 points, while Kenwick Colts kicked three goals and six points.
Superstar Noah Soper kicked two goals, with other Bulldog players Ben O’Shaughnessy, Trenton Collard and Israel Bucktin kicking one goal each.
Kelmscott Colts are second on the ladder, tied with Fremantle CBC who are both on 52 points, but Kelmscott has a chance to get ahead of Fremantle as they face them this Saturday, again at John Dunn Memorial Oval.
Best of luck to the Colts in this must-win game for Kelmscott.
