Aged care providers, workers and families are being invited to have their say on how in-home aged care services should be priced in future.
The Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) has released a new consultation paper to help shape the Pricing Framework for Australian Support at Home Aged Care Services 2026–2027.
The consultation comes as the Federal Government prepares to begin its new Support at Home program, which will combine multiple in-home aged care services into a single, simplified system. The program aims to help older Australians live independently at home for longer.
IHACPA Chair Mr David Tune AO PSM said the authority wanted to hear from as many people as possible.
“Everyone with an interest in aged care is encouraged to engage with us and share their feedback,” Mr Tune said.
“We want to work closely with our stakeholders to ensure our pricing advice for the Support at Home service list meets the needs of the aged care sector and reflect the costs of delivering safe, high-quality services for older Australians.”
The consultation paper covers areas such as pricing principles, methodology and adjustments. It also invites feedback on data needs and future pricing priorities.
Feedback from this process will help IHACPA develop the official pricing framework, which sets out how pricing advice is developed and delivered to the government.
Public submissions are open until 5pm AEST on Friday, July 18, 2025. The consultation paper and submission form are available on IHACPA’s Engagement Hub.
