Wirrabirra Primary School has plenty to celebrate this year, with one of its own students, Xavier Summers, named as one of this year’s Little Telethon Stars.
Xavier’s journey has been full of challenges, but his determination and energy have set him apart. Born at just 32 weeks, he spent his first four weeks in hospital.
At 18 months old he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, and doctors were unsure if he would ever be able to walk.
That didn’t stop Xavier.

With the support of the Perth Children’s Hospital, the White Zebra Foundation and Wize Therapy, he has gone from using a walking frame to riding a custom bike, and now running proudly with his frame runner.
His story shows what strength, positivity and a never-give-up attitude can achieve.
Xavier also has a passion that matches his determination. He loves speed, whether it’s watching drag and drift car racing, playing Burnout Masters on his console, or talking about the cars he dreams of racing one day.

“Xavier is his name, and speed is his game,” Telethon shared when announcing him as one of this year’s stars.
The highlight of his Telethon journey so far has been meeting new people, sharing his story, and representing the many children supported by Telethon.
And while Fat Cat couldn’t make it to Wirrabirra on this occasion, the famous feline has promised to visit the school later this year.
