Two high-achieving students from Willetton and Rossmoyne senior high schools were recognised with Western Australia’s most prestigious secondary education awards at last year’s WACE awards.
Cohen Beveridge from Willetton Senior High School was awarded the 2025 Beazley Medal: WACE, which is presented to the student who attains the highest WACE award score in the determination of the General Exhibitions.
In addition to the Beazley Medal, Cohen also received a General Exhibition, Subject Certificates of Excellence in Chemistry, Mathematics Methods and Physics, along with a Certificate of Distinction.
Cohen said he found his studies in Years 11 and 12 challenging but enjoyable across all his ATAR subjects. He is looking to studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Western Australia in 2026.
On the other hand, the Beazley Medal: VET was awarded to Holly Hunter from Rossmoyne Senior High School. The medal recognises the student who has demonstrated the most outstanding overall performance in a vocational education and training program.
Holly received a VET Exhibition and a VET Certificate of Excellence in the Construction Industries industry area. She completed a Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) through South Metropolitan TAFE. Alongside her VET studies, Holly also undertook ATAR Mathematics Applications in Year 11, which complemented her training.

Holly said pursuing a VET qualification allowed her to develop practical, real-world skills while balancing her academic studies and sporting commitments. She has secured an apprenticeship in the Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrician) qualification with Thyssenkrupp (TK) Elevator, which she will commence in 2026.

She said she looks forward to pursuing a career in construction and continuing to develop her kills within the industry.
Exhibitions and awards are granted by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority to senior secondary students studying Western Australian Certificate of Education courses and vocational education and training programs. The awards recognise individual excellence across both ATAR and VET pathways.
The Beazley Medal: WACE and the Beazley Medal: VET are the two peak awards presented each year.
