The transportables are out as Harrisdale Primary School completes its $25m upgrade.

Harrisdale Primary School (HPS) is celebrating a major milestone with the removal of its transportable classrooms and the completion of long-awaited upgrades.

HPS Principal Cleo Jenkins said the new build reflected the type of environment the school envisioned for their students.

“There’s a renewed sense of pride across the school and it’s wonderful to see the students and staff settling into the upgraded space,” she said.

Ms Jenkins said HPS currently enrolled more than 1000 students and expected about 970 enrolments in the coming year.

“Harrisdale PS has experienced enrolment pressure for several years, and while our transportable classrooms served us well, they were never intended to be a long-term solution,” she said.

Ms Jenkins said the feedback on the new build had been overwhelmingly positive.

“Students are excited about the fresh spaces, especially the natural light, the new breakout areas, and the modern technology,” she said.

“Parents are really impressed and have commented on how the upgrades make the school feel more open, contemporary and welcoming.

“Staff have appreciated the improved functionality of the classrooms, the increased storage, and the thoughtful design that supports collaboration.”
