Riverton crash leads to major drug and weapon seizure

A car crash in Riverton on Friday afternoon has led police to uncover a stash of drugs, weapons and cash.

Cannington detectives were called to the scene about 3:30pm on May 23 after a silver Kia Rio, a blue Honda sedan and a blue Subaru Crosstrek collided on Vahland Road near Betula Street.

The three drivers, a 48-year-old man, a 47-year-old woman, and a 20-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.

During their investigation, detectives executed a search warrant on the Kia Rio. Police said they seized multiple drug-related items, a firearm, a replica firearm, and a sum of cash.

A 48-year-old man from Morley was arrested and charged with 14 offences. These include possessing a controlled weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possessing a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply.

He was also charged with having ready access to both weapons and illegal drugs.

The man faced Perth Magistrates Court on May 24.
