The City of Canning has transformed Willcock Street into a safer, greener, and more community-friendly space.
The $1.4 million upgrade turned the stretch between Ferndale Crescent and Greenfield Street Bridge into a lively area for pedestrians, cyclists, and residents.
Funded by the City and the Western Australian Bicycle Network Grant, the project was carefully designed, managed and mostly delivered by the City of Canning.
The new look includes a high-quality off-road cycling path, safer roads, and better drainage. Seven mature median trees were kept and 30 new street trees were planted.
To support sustainability, the project used recycled road material and repurposed old concrete and asphalt.
Other changes include four new bus stops, one kilometre of shared path, and improvements that encourage walking and cycling over driving.
The project aligns with the City’s goals for integrated transport, sustainability, and urban greening.
It was also recognised as a finalist in the Best Publiv Works Project (Metropolitan) under $2 milion category at the 2025 IPWEA WA Excellence Awards.
Willcock Street is no longer just a road; it’s a safer, greener link to the heart of Canning.
