A new entertainment space for young people is opening soon in Huntingdale, and the City of Gosnells is inviting the community to join the celebration.
The official opening of the Youth Entertainment Space, known as YES, will take place on Wednesday, May 14, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at Sutherlands Park. The event is free and open to everyone.
There will be youth activities, a live DJ, a free sausage sizzle thanks to the Lions Club of Gosnells, and an ice cream truck.
The $6.7 million undercover facility is built for year-round use in all weather conditions. It includes a split-level skating plaza with rails and banks, a shallow skate bowl for all skill levels, and a pump track for BMX bikes, scooters, and mountain bikes.
The space also features an urban play area with a hangout zone, social swings, and platform seating. There is a rebound wall and a multi-purpose court for games like basketball, netball, and futsal. Coloured LED lighting adds to the overall design.
The City of Gosnells funded $4.7 million of the project, while the State Government contributed $2 million.
Construction is still underway, and the site will stay closed until the official opening event.
