An inaugural Christmas twilight market at a local primary school was a huge success last Saturday as about 2000 people from across the region joined in the festivities.

Serpentine Primary School played host to the markets which also helped raise about $2000 to help build the school’s new adventure playground.

School board chairperson Vanessa Bruce said she was honoured the Serpentine and surrounding community came together to support the event.

“The children really enjoyed all the rides as well as amusements that were set up,” she said.

“We had a huge variety of market stalls and the performances on the stage kept everyone entertained.

“We hope to have the plans for the new playground drawn up and work commencing by mid-2020.”

The event was supported by Mundijong Serpentine Medical Centre, the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale and the Byford and Districts Community Bank.
