The grounds of a primary school will soon be transformed for an exciting fete to celebrate a significant milestone.

Armadale’s Kingsley Primary is celebrating its 50-year anniversary this year and is calling on all past and present students, staff and parents to join in the festivities.

Principal Matt O’Mara remembers growing up in Armadale when the area was vastly different to how it appears today.

“The area between Armadale and Kelmscott was clear and then it developed into Kingsley and the Kingsley School and Kingsley Railway Station,” he said.

“By the time I was captain of the Armadale under 18s football team in 1969 the school was opened and the area was bustling with thousands of resettled English migrants.”

Today, Kingsley Primary has about 250 students and 34 staff and is a sought after school in the local area.

The 50-year celebrations will include a fete on November 2 from 11am to 2pm.

The classrooms will be open between 11.30am and 1pm to give members of the public an insight into the students’ work and day-to-day life at Kingsley Primary.

The school is also calling on past students and teachers to contribute any photographs they may have during their time at the Armadale school.
