Proud moment: Centrals Club vice president Geoff, Ian Atkinson, Naomi Erceg (formerly Atkinson), Murray Atkinson and Davina Atkinson with the original 1959 jersey worn by Mundijong Centrals Football Club.

The Mundijong Centrals Football Club was donated the 1959 premiership blazer of one of their previous captains during their round 11 home game.

On June 21, after hosting the Rockingham Rams during the Peel Football League game, the family of the late member Ross Atkinson donated the jersey he wore during the season of 1959, which was the club’s first ever premiership.

Mr Atkinson’s wife, Davina Atkinson said she was proud to donate the legacy of the team and her late husband to the club.

“Ross was very proud to have captained the club’s first-ever premiership,” she said.

“Our family has had a long history with Centrals, with both his sons and grandsons playing for the club over the years.”

Club president Jayden Clatworthy said the historic blazer represented the community players and club members have felt over the years, since the club formed in 1909.

“We are honoured to receive this symbol of our club’s heritage,” he said.

“Many members of the 1959 team are still with us, and their families continue to represent the club with pride.”
