To support the Disability Services Plan, the City of Armadale has welcomed new members to the Access and Inclusion Reference Group.
The group was first formed in 1995 to provide feedback and advice to the city, and was made up of a city councilor, city officers and community members.
Mayor Ruth Butterfield said she was excited to welcome the new members who would help the city achieve its goals.
“Welcome to our new members of the Reference Group and thank you to those who recently finished their term of service,” she said.
“The Access and Inclusion Reference Group provides a key voice to the city and supports the city as we plan and create an inclusive future of all our residents.”
Meeting twice a month, the group will provide feedback about how to improve access and inclusion for people who live with disabilities.
The new members include Clair Parsons from APM Communities, Alana Vanderwoude from Wanslea, Greg Massam from Directions Disability Support Services, and Lesley Murray who has been a well-known local artist in the community.
Current members of the group include Angela Pine, Sherri Rodier, Emma Nesbitt and Melissa Northcott, with the group chaired by Cr Gary Smith.
All members are experienced in the disability support sector either working for providers, living with or having relatives who live with a disability, and are passionate about inclusion without limits.
The new members were selected on an alternating two-year term.
