The Gosnells Hawks is headed into the League general bye with renewed confidence after a much-improved Round 7 performance, highlighted by strong wins from the Women and Colts, while competitive efforts across the club showed positive signs heading into the second half of the season.
The standout performance of the weekend came from the Women’s side, who produced a dominant display at Gosnells Oval against Kenwick.
The Hawks stormed to a massive 19.7 (121) to 0.1 (1) victory, overwhelming the visitors from start to finish.
Bindi Pickett led the way up forward with five goals, while Talia Coyne added four and Shakira Pickett chipped in with three in an impressive team performance. Shakira Pickett was named among the best alongside Bindi Pickett and Martika Yappo. The win sees the women head into the bye sitting fourth on the ladder with a 4-3 record.
The Colts continued their unbeaten season with another impressive victory, travelling to Brown Park to face Swan View. In what loomed as a major test, Gosnells delivered one of their strongest performances of the year to run out 15.5 (95) to 9.10 (64) winners.
Marquelle Spratt starred with five goals, while Kye Horan added three in a dangerous forward display. Matthew Goodhew, Ronald Abraham and Cayne Rayment were named the Hawks’ best, while Will Crockett earned special praise for keeping his direct opponent goalless. The Colts remain on top of the ladder with a perfect 6-0 record.
The Reserves were unable to secure the four points against Belmont, going down 4.3 (27) to 12.10 (82), however, there were encouraging signs throughout the contest. With coach Luke Chapman returning to the sidelines, the Hawks showed improved effort and competitiveness despite Belmont eventually pulling away in the second half.
Brandyn Luckens, Levi Gallagher and Wade Gallagher were named the side’s best players. The Reserves sit fifth on the ladder with three wins and four losses.

In the League clash, Gosnells remained within striking distance for most of the afternoon before Belmont finished strongly to claim a 10.12 (72) to 7.8 (50) victory. The Hawks competed hard throughout the contest and showed patches of strong football before Belmont’s late surge proved decisive.
Peter McArthur, Kade Pescod and Luke Edgelow were among Gosnells’ best performers. The League side heads into the bye in seventh position with a 3-4 record.
The Thirds faced another challenge on the road against Secret Harbour, battling hard despite the scoreboard pressure. Gosnells fought the game out strongly but eventually fell short against quality opposition.
Cayne Rayment, Seth Rayment and Hayden Carpenter were recognised as the Hawks’ best contributors. The Thirds remain in ninth position and continue searching for their first win of the season.
With the League competition now entering the general bye, all five Gosnells sides will enjoy a well-earned break before returning for a massive Round 8, where every Hawks team will play at home.
