Pitching for local businesses

Following last year’s success, Pitch Perfect is expected to attract strong local interest and participation this time.

On Thursday 20 August, Byford Co.Lab will be hosting its annual ‘Pitch Perfect’ competition.

The event is described by its organisers as a platform for local entrepreneurs to share their ideas, tell their story, and be seen by the business community.
Participants will be supported with a pitch‑development workshop with Wendy Jeffery from Fulcircle Consulting, ongoing mentoring sessions with Jerry from IPS Business Advisory and a focus on helping pitchers refine their message, build confidence, and connect with their ‘why.’

The event’s judging panel that has thus far been confirmed includes Hugh Jones MLA for Darling Range, Max Borserio from the Rotary Club of Byford, Larissa Stacey of the Peel Development Commission, Ian Caldwallander of the Peel Chamber of Commerce and additional judges to be confirmed.

A generous prize pool is on offer, with three separate amounts, $1,500 from the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, $1,000 from the Peel Development Commission and $1,000 from the Rotary Club of Byford.

Additionally, an annual membership from the Peel Chamber of Commerce, a branding package from the Mango Twins and a branding shoot from Amanita Photography are up for grabs.

“This is an opportunity for pitchers to gain visibility, build confidence, and share the story behind their business, as well as a chance to connect with local business owners, community members, and potential supporters,” the organisers have said.

Co.Lab Byford’s Jacqui Gandy had the following to say regarding the previous year’s event.

“One of the most powerful things we saw was the change in confidence once participants reconnected with their ‘why’,” she said.

“The moment they realised the heart behind their business, why they started, who they serve, and what drives them, their whole pitch lifted.

“It wasn’t just about presenting an idea anymore. It became their story. That’s what ‘Pitch Perfect’ is about. Helping people find their voice, back themselves, and share their business with clarity and pride.”

Expressions of interest are open for both adult and youth pitchers, and sponsorships are available for local businesses wanting to support innovation and future talent. All those interested in participating in the eventshould contact Byford Co.Lab. Registrations close soon, on May 30.
