Police made two arrests and one move on order following an incident in Byford at the weekend.

Byford mum Kiara Donovan-Mella says it’s unlikely they’ll host another Halloween party next year after police shut down their event at the weekend.

“If we ever did it again, because of the train line being open, we’d have security here because it’s just too easy for them to come up now,” she said.

Police said they received multiple calls about a party in Byford which was getting out of control at about 9.35pm on October 31.

Police said about 400 people, including numerous gate crashers, were found in the vicinity of the party, with many of the attendees intoxicated.

Police arrested a 16-year-old female from Glen Iris and a 21-year-old male from Thornlie and issued a move on order to a 17-year-old male.

The 16-year-old female was accused of assaulting two public officers, obstructing public officers and disorderly behaviour in a public place.

The 21-year-old male was accused of disorderly behaviour in a public place, obstructing public officers and possession of cannabis.

Ms Donovan-Mella said she didn’t expect the party to end up the way it did.

“We had it last year as well and the number wasn’t anywhere close to (400),” she said.

“She didn’t give the address out, even to her friends, until the day of.

“She did, obviously, expect other people coming and they’d bring their friends – that’s what happened last year and it was fine.

“(This year) they just all kept coming and coming.”

Ms Donovan-Mella said news reports of the event made it seem worse than it was.

“I’d say 98 per cent were actually really well behaved,” she said.

“Even the ones that I had to have a word with would stop acting silly straight away.”
