New grants to help WA small businesses grow

Western Australian small businesses can now apply for grants of up to $10,000 to help them grow, thanks to a new program launched by the Cook Government.

The Small Business Growth Grants will offer matched funding to help eligible businesses access expert advice and specialist services. The $1 million program aims to support business owners looking to diversify, scale up or explore new opportunities.

Small Business Minister Jackie Jarvis said the program will help businesses strengthen their operations and build confidence.

“We know that small businesses palay an incredibly important role across our State, providing essential services, creating jobs and contributing to communities,” she said.

“That’s why the Cook Government is helping WA businesses across expert services through this program to support businesses take the next step in their operations.”

The grants can be used for a range of services including business planning, digital marketing, e-commerce, financial health checks, cybersecurity, tender responses, export readiness and market positioning.

Applicants will be encouraged to use their vouchers to access services from other WA small businesses, spreading the benefits across the local economy.

Small Business Commissioner Saj Abdoolakhan said the program will help WA businesses “think big” by investing in their own capacity.

“Whether an enterprise needs to improve their online presence, get help managing their supply chain, develop systems for a safe workplace or secure other specialist help, the Small Business Growth Grant will help them access the specialist business services and advice they need to build capability,” he said.

The program will be delivered by the Small Business Development Corporation, which has been supporting businesses in WA for more than 40 years.
