With nominations only open until Thursday, October 31, City of Gosnells residents are encouraged to submit their nominations for the Community Citizen of the Year Awards to recognise those who positively influence our community.
Celebrating the people and organisations that make our community great, the awards aim to honour those who have made a significant contribution to the local community, demonstrated leadership on a community issue, introduced a significant initiative that brought about positive change in the community, or who is a role model for the community.
This year, the awards feature four categories: Community Citizen of the Year for individuals over 16 years old, Young Community Citizen of the Year for those aged 16 to 30, Senior Community Citizen of the Year for individuals over 65 and Active Citizenship Award for groups or community events.
Mayor Terresa Lynes said the awards are a valuable way to acknowledge the significant contributions made by individuals and organisations in the community.
“There are many people and organisations in the City of Gosnells who work tirelessly for others and make the City an even better place to live, work or visit,” she said.
“Nominating them for a Community Citizen of the Year Award is the best way to recognise their efforts and share their achievements with the whole community.”
Nomination for the group category must have demonstrated community engagement, created initiatives for new employment or implemented an initiative that brought significant positive change within the city.
Held in conjunction with Auspire, the Australia Day Council WA, winners of the awards will be presented on Australia Day, Sunday, January 26.
