Member for Darling Range Tony Simpson said he is very disappointed the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is considering returning the $50,000 grant money, which Mr Simpson presented to them earlier this month.

The funds from the Peel Development Commission Community Chest Fund is to go towards stage 1B of the Briggs Park recreation precinct master plan but in the agenda released by the shire ahead of the February 27 council meeting the shire is considering returning the funds.

Option two of the agenda states the shire would not support the procurement process for the construction of the Byford skate park and will return the grant of $50,000.

It also states it will consider the treatment of the budget available for the completion of this project in its mid-year review.

Mr Simpson said the project should have been finalised even before applying for the grant.

“This item should not be coming back to council,” he said.
