Gosnells Community Legal Centre volunteers run a mediation program that helps people going through a separation to resolve their issues and make agreements around parenting or property settlements without having to go through court.

The current team has provided more than 200 years of combined service to the community, with a number of dedicated volunteers committing over two decades to Gosnells CLC.

Last week, the team got together to share some training, and celebrate the successes of the program.

They shared their memories and learnings from the past 40 years at Gosnells and welcomed some new recruits to the team.

This service is available to anyone going through a separation, regardless of where they live, and is a great alternative to court proceedings.

“Family mediation is such a critical area of our practice, as it saves families who are already in a stressful situation from having to go through lengthy and expensive court dispute,” CEO Sarah Patterson said.

“The Mediation can be sorted within the day and an agreement put in place to allow the separation of property and assets, or care arrangements for the children.

“This reduces stress, cost, and time for families and allows them to move forward.”

“This valuable service would not be possible without the commitment of our amazing volunteer workforce, whose commitment to the community is incredible,” said mediation coordinator Sharon Edwards.
