The City of Canning’s Carols by Candlelight will feature a host of entertainment.

Celebrate Christmas with Canning’s annual Carols by Candlelight Concert on Saturday December 2 at the City’s Civic Amphitheatre, Cannington.

The free family event will kick off at 5.30pm with a toddler pre-show and kid’s activities which will include Dasher’s Disco Dome where kids can have a boogie with the Christmas gingerbread man and fairy, then post their letters to Santa.

There will also be face painting, roving entertainers, craft activities, plenty of festive photo opportunities and of course, a very special visit from Santa.

From 6pm – 8.30pm, the City’s Amphitheatre will be alive with the spirit of the festive season, lots of merry tunes and a range of fantastic performances.

Performances will feature the Canning City Brass Band and Rossmoyne Community Singers the Avenue Jazz Band, Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) Gospel Choir and the Colour-Blind Theatre Company.

Mayor Patrick Hall said that the Carols by Candlelight Concert is a great annual tradition that allows Canning’s diverse community to come together and celebrate the joy of the festive season.

“This year’s free Carols by Candlelight Concert is going to be even bigger and better with an increased variety of performances and activities for everyone,” he said.

“There will also be a fun surprise performance, which is sure to get everyone on their feet.

“As this time of year is all about spending time with loved ones, I’d like to encourage the community bring along their family and friends and join us to celebrate this very special time.”

Community members can bring a low chair, rug and picnic and enjoy a great evening of singing and entertainment.

There will also be food trucks, with snacks and refreshments available to buy.

Limited free parking will be available off George Street West and Carden Drive, bike racks are nearby and there is a bus stop on Albany Highway out the front of the Council building.
