Last week, Tinka the truck cat made a special stop in classrooms and libraries in Canning Vale and Gosnells as local leaders joined students for National Simultaneous Storytime 2025.
At Caladenia Primary School, Canning Vale MLA Terry Healy read this year’s chosen book, ‘The Truck Cat’ by Deborah Frenkel, to a room full of eager students.
He also helped distribute more than 20 free copies of the book to local schools, daycares, homeschool groups and families.
Over in Gosnells, Deputy Mayor Serena Williamson visited the library to read ‘The Truck Cat’ alongside staff.
Children enjoyed storytime followed by rhymes and fun craft activities.
The nationwide event saw more than two million Australians read the same book at the same time, all celebrating the joy of reading and the power of stories to bring people together.
