A local mum who started the Starkick Mundijong Junior Football Club and pioneered her own business has been named as a finalist in the national AusMumpreneur Awards.

Based in Byford, Kylee Plummer has been an integral part of increasing community inclusion and accessibility for people living with disabilities, raising two children of her own with disabilities.

Ms Plummer was nominated for the award by a community member for both her passion for community inclusion, and for her work in her own business, Kively.

Kively is a virtual assistant business, started by Ms Plummer in 2008 which caters to medical and legal practices around Australia, supplying them with experienced receptionist and customer service support.

Ms Plummer said she was “literally shocked” she was named as a finalist for the Mumpreneur award in the virtual assistant category.

“I’m just very shocked and I’m still shocked thinking I’m one of the finalists,” she said.

“It’s like a dream.”

To have more flexibility in her work life, Ms Plummer began Kively at her kitchen table so she could support her daughter, who was born premature at 25 weeks.

“I was looking around at what I could do from home, and I came across someone called a virtual patient secretary and that’s how I got involved,” Ms Plummer said.

“It gave me the flexibility to be able to take my children to their appointments, with the ability to still keep on my admin skills and progress on that.

“Being a mother of three, in which two have a disability, means flexibility isn’t just a luxury, it was a necessity.

“I’ve built Kively Office Assistants Online to support other busy professionals while continuing to volunteer and contribute to my local community.”

Ms Plummer said she was still in disbelief about being able to represent Byford on a national scale.

“There’s a couple of us from WA who have been nominated as finalists, but I think I’m the only one from WA up for the virtual assistant award,” she said.

“I’m honoured to be recognised not just for growing my virtual assistant business, but also for my continued volunteer work as the coordinator of the Starkick all-abilities football program and the Kelmscott football club.

“I am committed to driving change within our community, ensuring everyone has equal opportunities to engage in sports and other activities regardless of their abilities.”

Although this was her first time being nominated and recognised in the AusMumpreneur Awards, Ms Plummer has previously been named as the WA Football Disability and Inclusion Ambassador for both 2024 and 2025, and received the 2025 Burt Volunteer Award.

The AusMumpreneur Awards are hosted by the Women’s Business School to celebrate mums in business who are making a difference in their communities.

The award winners will be named at the Geelong gala ceremony on August 12.
