The Willetton Tigers kicked off their 2025 NBL1 season last Friday in Mandurah with a bit of a mixed start — a strong win for the men’s team and some early lessons to learn for the women’s team.
The men’s team started their season strong, defeating the Mandurah Magic with a fast-paced, high-energy performance that showed off their depth and confidence.
Leading the scoreboard was Taeshon Cherry with 24 points and 7 rebounds, supported by Tyreese Davis and Tom Gerovich, both adding 16 points each.
Damien Scott and Roosevelt Williams Jr also made their mark, contributing across the board in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.

Over in the women’s game, the Tigers faced a tough night against a dominant Mandurah side. Despite the 52–104 loss, the team showed promising sparks, especially from rising stars like Ajulu Thatha (13 points) and Eva Langton (12 points).
Ella Averill and Ashlin Ramsay also delivered solid performances under pressure.
Next up, both teams travel to Kalamunda to take on the Suns on Saturday, April 12.
The women’s team tips off at 5pm, followed by the men at 7pm, with both games available to stream on the NBL1 website and app.
Meanwhile, the Willetton Tigers are well set for an action-packed 2025.
The team continues to shine off the court too, with several young Tigers representing WA at the Foot Locker U18 Nationals this week. The club congratulated all players selected across WA Metro and Country squads, including Rose Clinch, recently elevated from reserve, and Hunter Hearn, who will support the team as a home-based reserve.
