Performers put on a colourful display at last year’s Lunar New Year celebrations.

Celebrate the Year of the Dragon at Gosnells free Lunar New Year event.

Held at Langford Park on Saturday and sponsored by Lotterywest, the event will recognise the diversity of the Gosnells community with family fun and entertainment including live music, dancing, a dragon train, food trucks and children’s entertainment.

Gosnells mayor Terresa Lynes said it should be a spectacular occasion.

“Everyone is welcome so come along and try your hand at traditional activities including lantern making and calligraphy, take your picture in the traditional dress photo booth, take a ride on the dragon train and enjoy the live entertainment including performances from local cultural groups as well as Jason Ji, a Perth-based, multi-genre guitarist,” she said.

“The City of Gosnells is home to one of the most culturally diverse communities in WA, and events like this help celebrate and share our unique cultural heritage with others.”

The Lunar New Year is celebrated on the first new moon of the lunar calendar.

Food trucks will be on site or guests can bring their own picnic.

Tickets are not required. For more details, visit gosnells.wa.gov.au or call 9397 3000.
