Gavin ‘Gracey’ Grace wants to get the youth of Gosnells fighting, but not each other and not with their fists.

Instead he has organised Game Day, Gosnells’ first all ages video game tournament.

Built around the massively successful Street Fighter V, Game Day is the next stage in Mr Grace’s ongoing campaign to curb depression, suicide and other mental health issues in local youth.

“Game Day is an all-ages event,” he said. “We’ll be running eight qualifying tournaments of double eliminations over the next few months ahead of a grand final. The first eight players registered at each event will go into the tournament.”

Mr Grace said the tournament was designed to raise awareness about mental health issues facing our families in a fun and safe environment. “We want to encourage conversations about the importance of general wellbeing and demonstrate to change the culture of fear in our communities,” he said.

Game Day will start January 20 from 9.30am at the Resilient Friends House at 5 Fremantle Road with the action kicking off at 10am.

Tournament entries are $25 but it is free to come down and watch.
