There was spectacular weather for the new Byford and Districts Croquet Club’s Family Fun Day on Saturday, and an even better turnout.

Club president Marie Donovan said the day attracted over 40 people, with around 25 people interested in joining the club.

There was a wide range of participants from the very young to the very wise.

And all new players eagerly lapped up instructions from the coaches on the ground.

“Everyone was totally involved and having a go. We couldn’t have asked for a better day,” Ms Donovan said.

“It’s a great start to the club. We’re definitely up and away now.”

Also in attendance was Croquestwest’s Sheila Twine who was instrumental in the forging of a number of Perth croquet clubs, including Waroona, Pinjarra and now Byford.

The club will host a meeting at the Bill Hicks Pavilion in Byford on Tuesday, September 5, from 9.30am. Anyone wanting to attend is welcome.
